40 day water fast for detox and weightloss?
I really would like to embark on a 40 day water fast for weight loss and to detox. After wards I plan on switching to a raw vegan diet. Given the fact that I am changing my eating habits, is water fasting an effective weight loss method?
I would like to lose at least 40 pounds I currently weight 130 and am 5’1.
While on my fast I plan to go on an hour long walk everyday.

I’m in exactly the same position at the moment only different stats and I’ve tried a 10 day fast before.
After the 10 days, i felt incredible! it was aw some, i lost about a 1.5 pounds a day…. BUT- once i ate my first tea-spoon of food i went completely berserk. i ate everything in sight and gained all the weight back and felt absolutely miserable.
In the meantime I’ve done some research (should’ve done before hand) and found that ‘Breaking the fast’ is universally the hardest bit.
ANYWAY- i was thinking it would make it much easier if we had someone in the same boat, so if you wanna be ‘fasting buddies’…. hit me up k?
Best of luck otherwise anyway! : ) in answer to your question, YES it is so worth it, YES it works, and NO it is no way near as hard as it sounds…. only once you finish do things get sketchy.
You will lose a lot of weight on it. However you will be very sluggish and irritable at first since your body is so addicted to food. Once you start eating again, you will gain a lot of weight back.. a little over half of what you lost. This is because you lost mostly water weight and your metabolism went into starvation mode so it will hold on to any food you put in your body and store it. If losing weight is your main goal, I suggest drinking water and eating around 800cals of raw veggies a day. This will not make you as tired, it is easier to do, you get more health benefits, you will have more energy to exercise, and weight you lose will stay off. Good luck!
Do you realize that you will be 90lbs?
Did you know that you can’t even give blood at that weight.
You may even loose your period?
There are other ways to detox that are healthier.

well for one, congrats on taking this into consideration! ive been doing research on this waterfast thing and i must say, it will take alot of will power, but according to people who’ve tried it, it’s very rewarding. i also must warn you; doing any type of exercise while on a fast is not recommended. your body is taking in zero calories, and with no calories means no energy. also, if you fast, usually it’s mostly water weight that you’re losing. but if you eat extremely healthy afterwards you can avoid gaining alot of it back, and then some. so i’d say yes, it is effective, but can only be longterm if you stick with helthy eating habits, like the raw vegan thing you’re doing. for the first three days or so, start off with broths, plain soups, raw veggies and fruits. even fruit juices. drink all the water you want, and make sure when youre eating that you thoroughly chew your food, to something of a paste. that way your digestive system wont have to work so hard right after this fasting. also, stay away from the greasy and spicy foods for awhile.
best of luck to you
