Do BMI calculators really work?
I’m 173cms (aprox 5.6 feet) + 51kgs (aprox 112 pounds). I’m 17, and I’m female. Why are BMI calculators telling me I am underweight? I don’t look underweight & I eat healthy and I can’t be bothered with exercise. What’s your opinion, should I be shoving more chocolate in my gob or just ignore the BMI calculators?

BMI’s are a very broad way of calculating. It’s not extremely correct. Some people have a lot of muscle, and their BMI can make it seem like they are obeist.
Muscle weighs more than fat.
Some people have heavier bones.
So, it’s not very accurate at all:)
yes they do work..
I think you should totally ignore the calculator! Everyone grows at different rates and everyones body is different. A BMI calculator is just a guide. If you really wanted to know if you are underweight go to your GP to find out!
Hope this helps!
I would say just ignore it, the BMI is just a rough/approximate estimation of what weight section you are under. Hope I could help!
yes they work
they generally work, but you shouldn’t worry about it.
