Is weight loss constant if you stick to a low-calorie diet and exercise?
So I understand you need to create a deficit between the calories you need and consume, and then you will lose weight. Healthy range is 1- 2 pounds a week, so if I go on a diet plan designed to make me lose 2 pounds a week will it work for as long as I do it? I mean I wanna do it for 3 months to lose 12 weeks X 2 = 24 pounds….I heard some people hit a plateau or something and stop losing after a while…is that true?

Is it ok to cut down calories a bit more to lose weight before my holiday?
I’m going on holiday in a month’s time and really want to shed a bit more weight before then (I have already lost a stone). But I’ve hit a bit of a plateau and the weight loss has slowed down. It doesn’t bother me too much but I would like to lose some more before I go.
If I stick to three meals a day but cut back a bit more on the calories, is it;
a) a safe way to do it?
b) an effective way to lose a bit more weight before my hols?
I’m exercising as well – 4/5 20 minute bike rides or workouts a week and a 20 minute walk every day. I also walk to and from work which adds up to almost half an hour walking a day.
Thanks
xx

Good weight loss plan?
I began my diet Nov 06 and I weighed 180 lbs. Taebo & atkins helped me lose a good amount of weight. Then I hit a plateau (got depressed and then basically quit working out as hard but have maintained all the weight off). I weigh 149 lbs now. I want to lose about 25 more lbs (i’m 5’4").
So I started my diet again. I run 1 mile at 5.0//5.2 mph on the treadmill for the past couple of days. I also do lots of crunches and occasionally jump on the elliptical for 10 minutes. The running is extremely difficult, but I somehow make it and run 1 mile without stopping. I also use weights at home and do bicep/tricep exercises throughout the day. My diet consists of mainly vegetables and now I’m thinking about incorporating some foods that are high in fiber.
My question is … Is this an effective plan for weight loss? Is 1 mile on the treadmill everyday enough cardio? I want to lose 15 lbs by new years… Is that feasible?

I have been on a weight loss program for 14 months just diet and exercise. I have lost 53.5 pounds and want?
to lose about 16 more. I have hit a plateau and this one is stubborn. I go to the gym 3 or 4 days a week (depends on work schedule) and have between 900 and 1100 calories a day. Any suggestions on how to get that scale moving again?

Should I get a treadmill or a cross trainer to lose weight? – bearing in mind I already have a exercise bike?
I had to say that because the cross trainer looks so much like the bike. I want a variety in my workouts as I’ve only been doing cycling for a year and have reached a plateau in my weight loss over the last six months.

What are the best weight loss EXERCISES?
I do tons of aerobics but I have hit a plateau.
I used to do lots of bodybuilding, but that was to isolate one muscle and grow it.
What exercises should I do to lose weight? Just the basics like squats and deadlifts and stuff? Is there a good book that spells this out?

How does exercise impact dieting via calorie reduction and starvation/famine mode?
Thanks to everyone for any advice. I was 250lbs and am now 216, so have been doing good. I have been reducing my caloric intake to 1500-2000 calories per day, and doing cardio exercise daily. Lately I have been starting to plateau alot, which I know can be natural, but want to make sure I am not sabotaging myself.
I generally read that if you put your body below 1200 calories a day it will go into famine mode and start holding onto fat etc. My question is this…. I accept that eating 1000 calories a day will cause me to stop losing weight. But what if I eat 1700 calories in a day but then burn 700 via exercise? Will my body go into famine mode? Basically, I need to know how exercise applies to famine mode, so that I can lose weight as efficiently as possible without hitting it.
Thanks again for the help!
