water fast / weight loss ? ?
if i were to go on a water fast (drink only water, no food) for a MINIMUM of 2 weeks ( 14 days ) how much weight could i expect to lose ?
Now, what about 30 days ?
just what the "average" person might lose.
thanks (:
i’ve already got . . . problems.
i just need a motivation, a base line to look forward to and go beyond.
so, really, no need to tell me of the risks, i’m still alive.

you can expect to lose your life
I lost 50 pounds in the past 7 months drinking water- and just eating frugally.
just add a little workout to whatever your doing whether it be walking for half an hour or something a day of that nature.
if you lose weight without working out for that long- you will be all hangy hungry and gross- even if you are slender you still wont be attractive. trusttttt me- dont let that happen to you cause the only way to fix it is surgery!
dunno but it doesn’t sound that healthy
and your matabolism (cant spell) will go WAY up
maybe just eat less in general?
you can lose a lot of weight but Ur going to get sick. its not about what u eat its about how much u eat. try eating 3 meals a day drink a lot of water exercise and u will see that u can lose weight and u can be healthy
i just got rick rolled, don’t click that lol.
i don’t think the "average" person would need 2 weeks
This, is something very harmful to do… Fasting on only water will be more of a struggle (in many more ways than one) than you think. I know that some people do it for religious reasons, but it doesn’t mean that doing to lose weight is "okay". Fasting and meditating is very different from trying to carry on in your life and having to deal with everyday issues along with the hardships that come with fasting. Fasting will affect your brain chemicals, bodily fluids, and stomach acids, amongst other things possibly even death.
If you just wanted to simply shed some water retention (bloat), that would be make more sense. (Look it up on the web).
Honestly, if you were even thinking about starving yourself to lose a little bit of weight, I think you really need to do some more research on the health aspect.
If you must – Just skip dinner for the two weeks and have some fruit or fresh vegetables instead. Unlike starving yourself, your body will have energy to burn your excess weight. TRUST ME!
You would lose ALOT of weight, (maybe 1/4- 1/2 lb. a day) but you would gain it all right back plus some extra as soon as you stopped unless you started slowly eating again with a lot of exercise.
(Trust me, I know, I used to have an eating disorder and I am a health freak!)
This is not a good idea, try juice fasting (liquids only diet). They are healthier and you will have energy. I have tried this and it’s great! You feel full, have energy, and lose weight. It also ‘cleans you out’ so to speak. (your colon)
If you only drink water, after a few days you won’t be able to function correctly. Your body needs vitamins and minerals. I mean, you can LIVE off of water, but YOU CAN NOT LIVE WITHOUT FOOD FOR 30DAYS. AT THIS POINT YOUR BODY WILL START TO EAT ITSELF (going into ‘survival mode’)
You may lose more than you’d want-like your life, or gain more than you’d want- an eating disorder.
Please think about this, it’s very dangerous. There are many healthy ways to lose weight. There is no magic answer-eating right and exercise is the best formula.
if you really wanna lose weight in 30 days you gotta eat vegetables salad and fruits salad but don’t eat the banana it’s a little fatty… walk for 45 min’s at least everyday and if you wanna have sexy good looking abs do only one exercise everyday.
drinking water only isn’t gonna make you healthy!
wow, hang on there.
I drink 1 gallon of water per day, I also eat a healthy diet. I must say, drinking a gallon of water per day, is one of the best decisions I have made for my diet. It keeps my skin Nice & clear! Its really good for my organs, (doctors tell me) And something I noticed, I am the last one to sweat. I almost never ever sweat & I’m a big guy, On saturday mornings I go out all day ’til about 4PM with my church, knocking on doors. and every one is Sweating Ridiculously & they are all really thin, here I am I weigh 200 pounds (big guy, stocky) and I am as fresh as can be, no sweat, looks like I just took a shower. Everyone is like what the heck man!? I know its the water, cause before the water, I use to sweat like a pig. So water, helps sweat! I can tell u that, and I drink a regular balanced portion of water per day 1 gallon. 1 gallon isn’t as much as everyone thinks it is, I have always heard 8-10 glasses of water is what doctors recommend we drink, in fact its what we should all be drinking on a daily basis. Well, good news, 1 gallon of water, is Exactly 8 bottles of water. I measured it, it is Exactly 8 bottles of water. So its similar to the 8-10 glasses we should be drinking. I’ve asked my doctor & he was soo proud that i’m drinking a gallon a day, says its not dangerous.
And, also, Do not! What ever you do! DO NOT! go on that fasting thing, I worked with some girls that went on the "lemonade diet", which is similar, in fact the water diet is obviously less healthy. Anyway, both girls got really bad stretch marks, & i think they both got really sick. and also, 1 girl went on an eating binge & over ate, and every day, she felt the need to fill her stomach as much as she did the day before (its how we are built)
Anyway, my boss said he seen it on t.v. that the lemonade diet is soooo bad for you, he said there were women on t.v. that needed serious treatment after that diet, I think surgery or something? but he talked both girls out of not doing that to their bodies any more. If you want to lose wait, get serious about it. read books, be diligent. Work out! thats the best thing, regular exercise! Cant be lazy if you want to lose weight. A quote ive heard some where "I don’t know any successful person that is lazy."
If I were u, I’d only eat food thats good for me, no processed foods, no fast foods. And i would slowly decrease the amount of food I eat in each meal, on a daily basis. LIke go from 100%full plate, to 95% the next day & 90% the day after and 85% the next day. keep a food diary or something. Plan it out, exactly what you will eat for the entire week. Thats what I do.
I use to weigh 275 lbs 10 months ago. Now I weigh 207 pounds. I work out every single day & I have a set diet. I wrote down exactly what I will eat on a daily basis & I love the food I eat & am not tired of it. And even if I was I would still eat it, I would put my self the the pain of having to eat something that is tastes nasty, or even tastes gross, if I know its nutritious for my body.
Anyway, Be all that you can be! & don’t be lazy!
You will do yourself a lot of damage, what is all this with everyone asking daft questions about wanting to loose weight on Yahoo answers these days??
when you go on a water diet, your body is forced to use alernative energy sources. The reason you lose weight on a Water Diet is because you are basically starving yourself. So it is not a diet, it is a type of fasting or starving. For a short perioud your body will be able to detox itself because it will have time to flush out all of the "junk food" you have been consuming…However, that only takes 3 days to a max week. After that your body will be starved. Water contains no vitamins, and no nutrients. A person can not survive on water alone and it is very dangerous to your health. Your metabolism will slow down. Your body will try and conserve as much energy as possible and burn your stored fat as slowly and evenly as possible waiting for the next meal of nutrition for it to run off of. Your fat is basically a storage of energy for when there is no food available. The reason we gain weight sometimes is because we take in way more calories than our metabolism is burning, either of perhaps genes we inherrit or because we do not get enough activity exercise to use up the energy in the food we consume. So the body takes the access energy and stores it on certain parts of your body for later use. It is a type of survival. Because your body will try to adjust itself by reducing your appetite you won’t be too hungry during the second and third day. BUT, your brain will realize that it is not getting the nutrients in needs….and so when it comes into contact of food it will kick into survival mood and you will more than likely have the strong urge to BINGE eat. Your brain will tell you to take in as much nutrients as possible because it doesnt know when the next meal is coming. If you are going to drink a lot of water the best bet is to eat 3 meals a day, something healthy with balanced calories….and lots of exercise to burn off the energy you consume. Your brain will become used to the routine of when you eat the small meals and you will not Binge eat. That plus exercise plus you drinking water will make you lose weight. Also taking vitamins with your meals is a plus.
Though you will lose weight by starving yourself and drinking water, because your body will be forced to consume its own body fat to function normally…ultimatly you will have to go back to eating. There comes the Binge eating problems, and the weight you lost, and the slow metabolism you created will just make your body want to store fat more because it will be worried it will not eat again. It could also lead to eating disorders, Anerexia, and Bolemia.
Consulting a Physical Therapist, and a Nutritionist is the best and safest way to go about a Diet. Plus plenty of Exercise. We all hate exercising, but that is how we burn energy by being active. For your health and safety I strongly recomend seaking a professionals oppinion and coming up with a safe diet that works with your body type. They will be able to tell you what type of body and metabolism you have and can focus on the aspects you need to work on.
Good luck.
Fasting goes back to ancient times. People using fasting to cleanse there bodies from toxins, viruss and bacteria. I don’t know exactly how much weight you will lose since everyone is different but I’m sure the more weight you have to lose the more will come off at once during your fasting. Depending on you body type some people can go 30 days on a water fast. I wouldn’t recomend going over 90 and no more the a few days if its tour first time. I’m on day 2 of my 1 week fast. The thing is if you fast make sure you don’t have anything to do those days you are fasting because its physically, mentally and emotionally draining. And when you break your fast you need to slowly introduce foods back in. Start with just cooked veggies and non acidic fruit. However many days you were on the fast, that’s how many days it should take to introduce HEALTHY foods back in. You can go to youtube and type in day 1 of fast, day 10 of fast, etc. good luck!
